I wish it was good too. The character of Jack is all wrong - he's not meant to be this dark brooding drying thing - he's larger than life and camp and funny and tough with a mysterious past. Bollocks to all this crying lark.
And that girl is just TERRIBLE. Her voice, facial expressions and body posture NEVER match eacher other, and she is a totally unbeleiveable character. As much as i love Mr Barrowman, he's not a strong enough actor/character to carry the weight of the other 3 who are weak at best.
None of the incidental cast are ever strong enough for you to care. The stepdad was HORRIBLE but you felt sorry for him because the little girl was totally vile. I'm not sure what that mum's wiggling was all about - you're meant to be all sad for her because she's just lost her boyfriend and her daughter in one go, but she looked so funny wobbling away you couldn't feel sad.
And there weren't really plot holes so much as GAPING PLOT CANYONS.
Jack was HOW old in 1909? So HOW old when he met that lady? How old was she meant to be exactly? How long has he been 'immortal'? He was responsible for those men but the 'fairies' spared him? why? and how did he know they ran over a chosen one?
Arrgh.
It goes on.
I think i keep watching it hoping and hoping for it to get good, and it never does. I can't help thinking how good it would be if it was written by someone else, like wotsisname who wrote Firefly and Buffy.
And UGH that incidentaly music drives me mad. It's like trying to watch a TV show in a lift with the tinny twee music in the background ALL THE TIME.
