Bad and Wrong.

Erm, me either. I think I should prefer the original, but that's been so massively overplayed that the Lily Allen version seems quite fresh in comparison.

Gash.

Original > Lily Allen.

Besides, aren't you supposed to wait a good few years before you cover a song as a proper release?

it's "ok"

Damning with fait praise perhaps but there's nothing to the cover version that is particularly memorable or danceable or moving. I don't hate it but I wouldn't go out and buy it nor would I put it on my iPod

its toilet.

dont get me wrong i am liking the lounge music style, i think that works with the track quite well.

moving on from that i cant stand her vocals at all, and to be honest once you have a lounge music style, a music vid inside a lounge club isnt an amazing imagination leap to make - so im not that impressed with the video either - i think betty boop did it better about 50 years earlier.

it's arse

some funny person posted a comment on it saying:
"lols.

she was too fat to fit in the studio so they had to put a cartoon version in the video instead."

it pretty much sums up my opinion ;]

In context of the album, it's definitely one fo the tracks that conclusively fails to work. In fact there are only three (maybe four) tracks one that album that really, which are (in order of effectiveness)

  • Phantom Planet - Just (Radiohead)

  • Amy Winehouse - Valerie (Zutons)

  • Tiggers feat ODB - Toxic (Britney)

  • Mark Ronson/Daptone Horns - God Put a Smile On Your Face (*ahem* Coldplay)

Just was clearly written with that brass part in mind, Amy Winehouse takes the Rod Stewart out of Valerie and northern souls all over it from a great height, anything track with ODB on it is worth a listen and the last one gets in there because it doesn't sound at all like Coldplay. Lily Allen I quite like as a frothy popstrel, but she just doesn't have the chutzpah needed to deliver that song's chorus (Ricky Wilson just barely does, moon-faced latter-day George Formby that he is).

Umm... I may have overthought this one!

Hmmm... Not sure. Really not decided either way.
