All this morning I was being paranoid that I smelt bad. I could not work out where the slightly eggy/dog poo/rotting smell was coming from. Once at work, a colleague mentioned he thought he'd stepped in something, as he'd smelt something bad all morning. I joked 'maybe it's something in the air'.

A few people in here noticed it too, others had no idea what we were talking about.

In the last few hours, it's been all over the news.

They all say the smell has come from Europe via freak winds. All except the ever-reliable Daily Mail, which reports that the smell is from France, despite their map which shows that the smell is actually coming from Europe NORTH of France. Good old Daily Mail - they never let facts get in the way of Frog-bashing, eh?

I really don't think I'd notice it, I was born in the countryside in Holland, the smell of manure is really quite normal there... ;-)

I grew up in Devon and am pretty used to cow and sheep smells - this was a little different because it was so subtle, you'd keep getting wafts and be like OMG I STINK.

If it's a rotten egg smell it most likely comes from the Ruhr Gebiet in Germany.

Huh, I caught a niff of it this morning, and thought it was manure that had spilled from a lorry or something. In fact, I didn't really mind it that much, because it reminded me of the agricultural smells of home in the West Country...
