Stewarding for Masque of the Red Death
Oct. 15th, 2007 04:09 pmIf you want to see the show again, or didn't get a chance to see it before all the tickets totally sold out, the BAC are still needing volunteer stewards for the show all the way up to the end of the run in January.
You don't get paid, but there are freebies and benefits -( info here )
As a steward you get the cape, a black mask and a bowler hat, and you will be rotated on various positions (there's about 20) throughout the whole set, so you should see pretty much all of the show if you steward a few times. It's not front of house stuff, you'd be part of the show, depending on where you are placed you might have to assist actors, open and lock doors, tell audience members off (without speaking...all sinister like...)for stealing, talking, shouting or being daft , in one room your job is sitting with the theatre's cat (a real one) and keeping the coal fire burning. In another, it's making sure no one gets hit by chairs.
If you are interested, email Edel at - EdelR@bac.org.uk and she can give you more information. You'll need to attend a H&S induction before you steward, these are mon, tues, thurs and Fri at 6pm, and Saturdays at 11am. You also get a tour of the set, which is pretty awesome :)
