LJ Users in Xenophobia Shock - OMG RUSSIANS!!!!111one

So, LJ is to be run by someone else. I imagine this will make relatively little difference to any of us - I don't know about you, but I've found the majority of Six-Apart's features a bit pointless really. Does it really matter who runs LJ, really?

But LJ wouldn't be LJ without drama, and of course, there's drama and paranoia a plenty over at LJ News today.

It's depressing how many almost xenophobic comments there are over there, and how much fuss people make over something like this!!

Although, if they do need to transfer servers, I am paranoid enough to wonder if I should back up my LJ entries, just in case. If only I knew how ;)

Ibrahim Mogra from the Muslim Council of Britain told BBC News 24 that the whole saga had been very damaging for the image of the Muslim faith.

As miss_soap said on her post, it's only worth reading the comments if you feel like being FULL OF RAGE.

I've already said my piece about this - and why we should not be saying 'stupid woman, she went there, she should have known', and why this is about much more than that.

I will add a question someone else made elsewhere - that they are using a Muslim law to punish a Christian woman. Does this mean than anyone not of the Muslim faith is bound by their laws? Does that extend to all the laws?

No answers here, but I thought it was an interesting question.
