Well, I've been tagged by at least 3 people on facebook, and can't be bothered to tag anyone back, so I thought I'd just stick it here. Do it if you want to, don't if you don't :)

- My real name is Emmline, May is not my real surname. It was my Grandmother's maiden name, and I took it as my stage name while at university where I did a performing arts degree. I prefer it to my real surname, which I only use these days for work and for my bank account.

- My grandfather was Peter Dynely, an actor. He's been in the Saint, Z Cars, and most famously 'Thunderbirds' where he was the voice of Jeff Tracey, who says the famous '5,4,3,2,1' line at the start of the show. He wasn't actually American, but did a great American accent. I have a copy of Gerry Anderson's autobiography which is autographed to me thus "Emmie, your grandfather was F.A.B in the Thunderbirds". He was also in a b-move called 'Manster' with the tag line 'Half Man, Half Monster', but always makes me think 'Half man, half hamster'. He died before I was born.

- I make amazing fried egg sandwiches.

- I am really accident prone.

- My dream job would be to work in a fancy dress shop.

- My favourite words are 'pomegranate', 'plinth', interrobang' and 'onomatopoeia'.

- I can hammer a 4" nail up my nose

- I feel like at the age of 30 I ought to know what I want to do with my life, and I don't. I still don't think of myself as a 'grown up' and I'm not sure I ever will.

- I am 5'2", but people always seem to think I'm much taller than that. I think partly this is because I used to wear 4" or 5" platform goth shoes at all times and up until 2 years ago no one saw me in normal shoes. People still seem surprised when I tell them my height though, which I find weird. One person once said to me 'I guess you just have a tall personality'.

- I had my tonsils out 3 years ago. I wish I'd had them out when I was little, because then you get presents and cuddly toys and ice cream and your Mum tucks you in and you get to watch telly all day and not go to school. When you're a grown up you have to deal with the pain all on your own, you have to eat toast, no one brings you presents or cuddly toys and day time TV really sucks after 4 weeks and you have to do a whole bunch of work from home because 4 weeks of work is hellish.

- I have horrible panic attacks. I try to hide this, because I am very embarrassed about them. I am better at dealing with them these days than I used to be, and am really good at spotting them coming, and have learned ways of 'heading them off at the pass' as it were.

- I get really, REALLY REALLY grumpy when I've not eaten. REALLY grumpy.

- I love tomato ketchup, and have it on pretty much everything. I will even eat it with a spoon.

- I used to be a singer in a metal band. I am not a particularly great singer, but I think I have pretty good front-man skills, and would love to sing in a band again. Not a metal band though, as it was no good for my poor throat.

- I have been a vegetarian since I was about 11, because the thought of eating meat makes me feel sick. I'm not an ethical vegetarian, although I do disagree with the way our society produces meat and animal products. I don't actually believe that meat is murder, but I believe that intensive farming is cruel. If I lived on an island somewhere and had to hunt, kill and cook my own food, I probably would eat meat. I think that the way we disassociate 'meat' and 'animal' is very strange, and find it odd that many meat eaters will only eat certain meats because something is 'cute' or a 'pet'. I see meat as MEAT, it's all dead stuff, and used to have a nervous system, and blood pumping around its body, and a stomach and just EUW THAT'S VILE. Every now and then I am tempted to eat meat, but then my throat closes up and my stomach tightens and I can't do it.

- Despite all my tattoos and piercings, I am phobic of blood tests and injections. I go all cold, I shake, I go pale and feel sick and I sometimes actually pass out. I am not having any more piercings, because I can't take it any more, I act like such a wuss. Tattoos, however, don't freak me out at all. It's a different type of needle, I guess.

- I have been playing Roller Derby with the London Roller Girls for just over a year, and while I'm not the greatest player, I am really pleased with my progress, and with the fact I've stuck at it through steep learning curves, because I can't remember ever sticking with anything I found this hard before in my life ever. I've doubled the number of people I can call 'friend' and am amazed at how supportive and fantastic so many of the people I've met through derby.

- I've always thought of myself as fat and funny-looking, and probably always will, however many times people tell me to the contrary.

- I love doing THINGS to my hair. Dying it, extending it, anything. I love having stupid coloured hair. It's been every colour, pretty much. The last time I dyed it I had a horrible allergic reaction to the hair dye, and the thought that I might not be able to dye my hair again makes me far more sad than it really ought to.

- I am allergic to pretty much most things, with new allergies cropping up rather more often than I'm comfortable with. My worst allergies are trees, grass, dogs, cats, dust and cigarettes.

- I am a terrible hoarder. I love STUFF. I have lots of STUFF and am constantly having to prevent myself from buying more STUFF as my room is full of STUFF.

- I can't walk past a Claire's Accessories. I am pulled in by strange gravitational forces entirely against my own will.

- I really want a pet gecko

- Sometimes I think I'm really annoying. I get painfully aware that I'm being annoying. The more annoying I think I'm being, the less able I am to stop being annoying. When this happens, I try to just go home and not be near anyone to annoy them.

- My Mum and I have more of a twin-sister relationship than a mother/daughter relationship, and that's just how I like it. She lives in Swellendam in South Africa and runs a B&B called Impangele, and you should all go out there and stay with her, as she's an awesome host and the part of the world she lives in is incredibly beautiful.
