Following this post and the email that arrived at 10pm last night telling me to print off my email to take with me, I realised that if I hadn't phoned when I did, I'd be buggered, as I don't have a printer.

I'm sure I'm not alone - many of us have internet connections at home, but how many of us have printers?

So I emailed them, asking what to do in the event you have no bib and no email print out. And I get this automatic reply, telling me they're very busy, but will try to get back to me, and if I haven't got my bib, to print it off. Only, someone in the mayor's office wrote this in a hurry...

If for some reason your packs does not turn up on Saturday morning then
please print of the email confirmation of your entry and bring to your nearest hub information point in exchange for a bib.

There are lots of people whose only net connection is through work; and even then they might not have free access to a printer. What are they supposed to do?

They really have achieved FAIL quite spectacularly.

they really have, haven't they?

They clearly haven't been keeping a record of any names or anything; registration was, it appears, just for collection of numbers.

I've had no answer yet, I haven't tried to call again. I suspect today the staff are learning the true meaning of 'inundated'...

We're just going to cycle up to Victoria Park instead of trying to join the main event as originally suggested by the registration email. We'll attempt to exchange our email printouts for bibs and see how that goes.

It's not actually necessary to be registered, though, in order to come along. So it shouldn't matter. (Anyway, it's public roads!)

I have a bib, but will not be taking it, because it is bloody stupid.

they are only £19.99 though, so there's no excuses

Mine's broken and given that it's just before payday, and I have to chose between eating or buying a printer, how's that for an excuse?
