Why are none of you actually called Interlock?

When A set up her journal she wanted Ephemera, but it was taken, so she went for the first thing she though tof which was interlock. She's had hers for far longer than any of us, and therefore it wasn't an issue before!

We do keep thinking about her changing her name and then interlock can be the band journal, but that kinda depends on her finding a name she wants to change it to!

the main sticking point is actually finding a way of doing it that guarentees that we / they don;t loose the name entirely.

I am not au fait with the whole name changing thing - never having done it - why might we lose the interlock name?

if I change my name, but keep link forwarding, the old name doesn't, in fact, become vacant.

if I change my name and don't keep link forwarding, the name becomes vacant after n days, but anyone could sign up at take it any time after it becomes free [which ought to be n days but might be + or - a few]

there is, to my knowledge, no way of me taking the account and giving it to the band *except* for me to delete all my entries and hand it over. If there was a realistic way for me to copy each past entry over to a new account, and keep the comment threads etc, plus my perminant account status, I would do that, but there doesn't seem to be.

Have given it some though, and decided that it's not imprtant enough to stress over, and at least it's someone band *related* who can pimp and forward, basically.

Why not just keep he interlock journal as is let everying on the current freinds list know whats happening, copy all A's details over to a new journal, get a backup of all the previous posts.....ah wait A's journal is currently one of the permanent ones isn't it.
maybe having words with the people in power of LJ will help you so you don't lose the name
