This was every fabulous stupid hilarious 80s film ever made, with better special effects, and with ROBOTS. It was the sort of 80s film that i watch with a hangover, or at christmas, and complain THEY DON'T MAKE FILMS LIKE THIS ANYMORE.

It was Back To The Future, WITH ROBOTS. Inner Space, WITH ROBOTS. Harry and The Hendersons, WITH ROBOTS. Short Circuit, with, uh, EVEN BIGGER ROBOTS. Flight Of The Navigator, The Explorers, The Goonies. All of those, but with added OPTIMUS PRIME.

In short, you see this picture?

Well, it was MORE AWESOME THAN THAT.

A new word needs to be invented, because awesome simply no longer cuts it.

IT was totally ridiculous, hilarious, huge and flashy, with really cool robots, unbelievably cheesy laugh out loud dialogue, proper 80s off-the-peg-kids-adventure-film-acting and slapstick set pieces, and ROBOTS.

Do not expect intellectualism, or anything clever, or you will be disappointed. Expect
Batteries Not Included, Space Camp, War Games, hell, even One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing, add robots, and enjoy :)

I spent most of the film squeeing at Nina, going 'That's soooo cooooool!'. If I was 7 I might have gone mad at the prospect that I could have a Chevy Camaro as a best friend......actually I'm 26 and that still sounds really cool! :D

Flight of the Navigator: I was sure that this film was a figment of my imagination - much like Condorman

None of this surprises me. In a good way, of course.

i mainly liked the bits where they transformed. And the roller-blading decepticon was pretty cool.

Ok, the dialogue, acting and lot were all pretty silly, but in the context of those 80s films i mentioned, it was pretty much bang on.

The Decepticons f*cking RULE!!!

The opening scene where Blackout opens up a can 'o' whup-ass on the army base made me squel out loud.

mmm.... was alot of fun, and it was worth it to see the world police get stomped - lots. and i want my car to do be my best friend...... oh no wait. thats right.

had i been a 8 year old boy i would possibly have enjoyed it a little more. the kind of film that you stick on to ammuse the kids after they have been charging around the family bbq on a sugar rush.

impressive graphics (most of the time) good shooty shooty nonsense, but what was with the cube? was that not just the biggest magguffin ever?

my favorite bit was the 50ft robots hiding in the garden. oh and satans mobile.

my favourite bit was them hiding in the garden too! totally awesome!

It made more sense than the original film, you have to admit! That was BONKERS. And they killed off all the good robots early on. Why did the cube only make BAD robots, was the question we asked? Surely it should have a 50/50 chance of being a decpticon or an autobot?

My inner 12 year old is very happy the film was exactly the way it was. I was worried they'd fuck it up by trying to make it too dark and badass, but it was huge and camp and shiny.

Maybe because they were made randomly and not in a controlled way? So they weren't evil so much as they were chaotic? The cellphone transformed in the lab and Coke™ machine just started fighting everything straight away, they didn't really have any motivation attached to them.

Or it may have been due to the Sector Seven bloke's explanation that all current tech was reverse-engineered from MDE-1 (Or Megatron, as we prefer to call him)...hence all modern tech is innately evil!

Or something.

Alternatively, in a similar chaotic thing: they;ve just benn "born" effectively, and haven't been educated/indoctrinated in any wy, so they're a bit chaotic. Kinda like how human kids generally scream, shit, and throw things about, so "baby" transformers are born mewling and firing bullets & missiles around.

Yeah, I mean if you'd just come to life and were either in a glass box with people staring at you, or in the middle of an ongoing battle, you'd probably be a tad irate too!

True.

although I'd probably also be going "I have guns? Rockets? COOL!" *whee-bang-dakkadakkadakka* etc!

With a big smile on my face.

I now want to see One of our Transformer is Missing, whereby the evil hordes of decepticons are defeated by Jo Frost leading a platoon of crack british nannies (with Vin Diesel playing the american nanny...) winning the war with good old fashioned common sense and starch.

The advertising poster will have Megatron sitting looking cresfallen on the naughty bench. With the tag line of "Asserloutly the greatest film you will ever watch!"
