OH. MY. GOD.

ION, I went to the new Westfield centre yesterday. I felt as if I was on a capitalist pilgrimage as I walked to the centre from the new Wood Lane station along with everyone else who'd been on the same train, and actually felt my stomach flip as I saw the glittering shops full of promise, tempting me in - enter me they said. Enter me, touch my wares, love me, buy me, take me home and I will bring you joy forever. It's like Mecca, a temple to consumerism, a religion for the 21st century.

I bought shoes.

It's great that London has finally caught up with the rest of the world in terms of providing a pleasant shopping experience. Even the sales people there were friendly and helpful, the Westfield Aussies must have insisted on training them in customer service! I would definitely go back, I've always liked Shepherd's Bush anyway.

I've been heading out there since my days at Uni when I needed to buy fabric, it's still the cheapest place in London. They gave me some decent deals on all the fabric for my wedding dress (which thankfully I never got around to making). I guess I've always preferred the Goldhawk Rd end of things as opposed to the actual market though. My favourite Polish restaurant is near there too, as is a decent branch of Traid.

There's no comparison. Brent cross is like smaller versions of all the high street shops in one place, Westfield is MASSIVE versions of high street shops in one place, and is much nicer. There's also a proper upmarket bit with tiifany's and Luis Vitton and that sort of thing, where I like to annoy the posh staff by being in their shop looking scruffy.
