Ok, so my birthday is a long way away, but i'd thought i'd put this out there to see if there was any interest.
dangermonkey has brought this to my attention.
The Dunwich Dynamo is a 200km night ride from London to the lost city of Dunwich on the Suffolk Coast.
The 2007 one is on the weekend of my 29th Birthday, 28th-29th July. The route is candle-lit :)
Would ANYONE out there be interested in doing this with me for my birthday? You'd have til July to plan/worry/buy a bike/fix your old bike etc.

Date: 2007-01-31 12:05 pm (UTC)However there are like trail rides and stuff which are good fun. Alternatively we can just meet up somewhere and go for a ride or something.

Or is that too off-road?

Date: 2007-01-31 12:25 pm (UTC)Last time we did the short 16 mile version and the 4 of us who went were half dead afterwards, whereas knocking out 16 miles on normal roads isn't quite so bad.
Yeah I r got me a Kona, which is comepletely unsuited for road-riding. Not to mention the fact that it's going to the shop and I have a horrible feeling the cranks are distended and need replacing:
I've got a book somewhere of bike routes in the South East, I'll see if I can find something in the middle of the road for both our bikes.

Date: 2007-01-31 12:30 pm (UTC)Starting of with some london based city rides would be good :)
There's a fair few 20-30 mile group rides starting from Islington, or so it appears from the LCC magazine i flicked through, i should look into doing some of them.
At the time i was like 30miles? for fun? WTF?
and now i'm like YEAH!! 120 MILES! BRING IT!

Date: 2007-01-31 12:48 pm (UTC)I actually think the idea of cycling 120 miles is scarier than jumping out of a plane, but i want to do both...
if you do this with me, i'll come do a jump with you!!

Date: 2007-01-31 01:03 pm (UTC)It would have to be a jump on your own then...where you have to overcome the psychological headfk as you stand in the open door and your brain screams no way at you jumping as your body shuts down and everything turns to jelly:)
I can honestly say I would go mad with boredom cycling for that long so i`m not going to do it - it`s just not enough mental/speed stimulation:)
I can happily drive for hours but only if I am challenged throughout most of the journey speedwise - ie on the edge ...
Cycling for hours and hours even if it`s a goal is just not my idea of fun sorry hun:)
I have stax of other goals which would fulfil my need for speed:)
So am up for cycling trips around London, maybe even outside but 120 miles...no uh:)
I did wake up today and think `it`s a day for rolercoasters`:)
